About Our School...

Jane Dee Hull was established in 2001 and is proudly named after former Arizona Governor Hull, a well-known advocate for education. At Hull, we strive to create a caring community that values diversity, fosters character development and provides a nurturing and safe environment. Teachers work collaboratively, and are competent, effective and committed to professional growth.

Students are held to the highest academic standards, and are engaged in meaningful and challenging curriculum. Our high level of parent participation enhances high expectations, student motivation and achievement. We welcome you to Jane Dee Hull Elementary School.

― Josh Cagle, Principal

Hull Elementary's Namesake

Jane Dee Hull
Jane Dee Hull has led a distinguished life of public service, starting as an educator in the 1960s and then progressing to the Arizona legislature in 1979.  During her tenure, Governor Hull became the state's first woman to become Speaker of the House; she was elected as Arizona's 16th secretary of state in 1994, and became Arizona's 20th governor, succeeding J. Fife Symington in 1997.*

Governor Hull's commitment to children and education prompted Chandler Unified School District to name Jane Dee Hull Elementary in her honor.  Hull Elementary opened its doors in the fall of 2001 and has distinguished itself in the Cooper Commons community ever since.  Hull Elementary's first principal, Jan Weyenberg, assembled an excellent, dedicated, and hard-working staff that fostered its welcoming and academically vital reputation. Hull Elementary's staff members are ably carrying that tradition forward, having earned both Arizona Excelling School status, and an A+ designation from the Arizona Education Association.

Site Council

The Jane Dee Hull Elementary Site Council is a site-based group comprised of parents, teachers, support-staff, community members, and school administrators.  The purpose of the Site Council is to work collaboratively with the principal on the continuous improvement of the school.

This goal is accomplished by studying current educational research and thinking, by examining the current educational program at Jane Dee Hull Elementary, and by seeking input from staff, parents, and students to set school goals and strategies to achieve them.  Site Council meets at least once per month.

The primary focus for our Site Council this 2025-2026 school year will be the Journey to Excellence Plan.

Chandler Unified School District’s Journey to Excellence consists of four essential goal.

  1. Learning Experiences

CUSD students and staff engage in meaningful, innovative learning experiences using essential skills and strategies that foster continuous growth, establish pathways to achievement, and develop successful members of local and global communities.

  1. Community Engagement

CUSD families and community partners engage in the shared responsibility of personalizing experiences that contribute to the students’ personal, social, emotional, and academic growth.

  1. Innovative Organizations

CUSD staff illustrate future focused, adaptable instructional and operational practices that are equitable, efficient, fiscally responsible and data driven to ensure high quality educational experiences.

  1. Culture

CUSD students, staff, families and community members create inclusive and supportive environments that enhance open collaboration and quality learning.
